چکیده

Introduction: Contrast-induced nephropathy is one of the most serious adverse effects radiocontrast agents usage. It currently listed in literature as third common cause iatrogenic acute kidney injury. Aim study: The aim this study to provide an overview extent, severity and prevention CIN. shed a broader light on disease entity be helpful resource future for other clinicians struggling with Methods materials: A review was conducted using PubMed database, keywords: "contrast-induced nephropathy"; "acute injury"; "contrast media". Results: Pathogenesis CIN not entirely clear. There are many risk factors being e.g. diabetes, chronic disease, advanced age (patients over 75 years old). Prevention methods include restricting contrast volume minimum, balancing patient's volaemia before administration or perioperative saline hydration normalise volaemia. Conclusion: significant health problem, which can life threat. Despite fact that exact pathogenesis condition still remains unknown, prophylaxis becomes more effective due better recognition usage adequate measures appropriate patients' condition. Contrast-Induced Nephropathy: Risk Factors, Clinical Implication, Diagnostics Approach, Prevention

Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) is an important and well‐known complication in pa‐ tients with chronic renal insufficiency undergoing both coronary angiography and coronary interventions. The estimated incidence of CN after coronary angiography was around 15%. In fact, CIN is the third leading cause of acute renal failure in hospitalized patients [1]. CIN is usually transient disorder, but i...

Contrast-induced nephropathy--prevention and risk reduction.

Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a serious, but potentially preventable adverse event associated with the use of iodinated contrast media (CM). Studies suggest that the occurrence of CIN is directly related to the number of pre-existing patient risk factors such as pre-existing renal insufficiency (RI) with or without diabetes, advanced age, congestive heart failure and dehydration. Becaus...

Contrast-Induced Nephropathy Following CT Scan and Its Associated Factors

Background and purpose: Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) as a common complication of administration of contrast media (CM) is a major source of hospital morbidity and mortality. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of CIN after contrast-enhanced CT scan and identifying the related risk factors. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in 100 patients att...

Risk factors for contrast-induced nephropathy.

An increasing number of diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures require the use of radiographic contrast agents which has led to a parallel increase in the incidence of contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). CIN is a serious clinical problem associated with increased morbidity and mortality, particularly in patients with chronic renal failure (see the Case Report). A key step to minimize ...

Computerized tomography contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) among adult inpatients.

INTRODUCTION Contrast induced nephropathy (CIN) is one of the complications of the use of intravascular contrast agents, being defined as a reduction of the glomerular filtration rate caused by the iodinated contrast. Most CIN data derive from the cardiovascular literature, which identified as the most consistent risk factors pre-existing chronic renal insufficiency and diabetes mellitus. Howev...
